Welcome to Term 2 2022… starting 26 April…

Our photo at the start of this blog is just a small sample of the beautiful work completed last term. Although we had viewed the start of our year with a bit of intrepidation due to Covid, we received great support from our members old & new-from signing in, showing us their vaccination certificates, mask wearing, (with cups of coffee outside the preferred option) and cleaning down their own chair & table–they all stepped up to keep our great little community safe. Thank you everyone

We had our AGM on 29 March with the majority of our committee renominating for another fun-filled year. Sue Gale & Sunita McWhinney, a great team, are our Coordinators, Sue Chapman has stepped up to be Minutes Secretary, and Lina Platts has agreed to stay on as Treasurer, with Cheryl Gee combining her roles of Enrolment Officer & General Committee person (not forgetting that Cheryl is also the volunteer office person on Mondays). Thank you all. And many thanks to retiring committee members Jannine Sangalli, Lee Hockley & Rachel Robson. We do still need one more general committee person….WILL YOU HELP?

During the Christmas holidays, City of Stirling was hard at work, replacing some ceilings & repainting, replacing the non-slip coating on the path & verandah, and most importantly, completing the much-need renovation of our toilet. Many thanks to Martin from City of Stirling, and the Department of Local Government (via a pledge from Simon Millman) for the $5000 grant to make this happen. We now also have natural light in this area for the first time in 40 years! It was as simple as removing the chip board covering the windows in the adjoining storeroom (once the bathroom of the house–with pink & grey tessellated tiles, pink basin & bath still in situ under the shelving!).

Containers for Change:
Thanks to all our members who support the Centre by bringing in their Containers for Change items. Our bins are never empty! But did you know that you can take your containers to any recycling facility, show them our Member ID Mobile Pass, and the donation comes straight to us? If this is an easier option for you, follow the download link here.....and thank you again!

Fundraising:

And while we are on the subject of fundraising (when are we not on about that??), Burger Lovers attention please. We will soon have a fundraising jar at Grill’d Mt Lawley. The fundraiser involves you buying a burger, receiving a token, and then dropping the token in one of jars on the counter. Every month, $500 is split between 3 community groups. So please drop your token in our jar! Thank you. (If we win, the money will go towards a beautiful new home for our Little Free Library).

Meanwhile, check out all the great classes we have for you in Term 2 2022. I urge you to enrol sooner rather than later to make sure you secure a place in your favourite classes.

The office will be closed for the holidays, but if you need to contact us, please email us through the website here.
